Mr. Walker was admitted to practice in Florida in 1978, and is admitted to the U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida; the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. “The Doctor’s Lawyer” John Ellis has defended physicians for 42 years and gained their trust and respect through advanced education, experience and service to both professions. Mr. Ellis graduated from The Citadel and Southern Methodist University Law School. He served as a regular Army Infantry and Judge Advocate officer. His training began at the burn ward of Brooke Army Medical Center and later at Walter Reed Medical Center, where he was awarded a Fellowship in Forensic Medicine at the world renown Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, later becoming the General Counsel for the AFIP.
He earned a Masters Degree in Forensic Science from George Washington University School of Law/Medicine and later a Masters of Law [LLM] in Taxation where his thesis was The Tax Advantages and Disadvantages of Professional Incorporation. Mr. Ellis has tried over 200 cases to verdict defending physicians, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. His practice includes advice and counseling on all health care related matters, including fraud and abuse, Stark regulations and business entities and formation.
The Governor of Texas has appointed Mr. Ellis to a six year term on the Texas Medical Board which is responsible for protecting the citizens of Texas through disciplining and licensing physicians. He holds an appointment with the University of Texas Medical School in the Department of Pathology and serves on the Dean’s Advisory Committee. He was recently elected Chairman of the Texas Bar Foundation which is composed of the top1% of lawyers in Texas.
